today in civics

Today in civics we had a mock house of representitives debate.

One kid asked “Mrs. H, why aren’t we allowed to boo? Real congresspeople boo!”

Sad part was he’s right.

what if the house of reps was required to debate in song. 

what if. 

and then if you sang badly you got booed. 

mine was:

political parties are to society

as twilight is to twelve year old girls. 

because it forces people into really polarized opinions and doesn’t leave room for the middle ground and also everyone who is unaffiliated just wants them to shut up. 

I mean it was a little more academically worded than that but yes I legit turned this in on a test. 

for the record, I am not comparing twilight fans to members of the united states government. 

I am comparing members of the united states government to a bunch of twelve year old girls.
